    Update on the Tacoma purchase:

The owner's daughter is finalizing getting the title in her name after her mother passed, so I should have the pickup in the next week or two. I want to have a plan in place and parts ready to start general maintenance and repairs once I get it.

Any suggestions on what other maintenance I should do would be appreciated since I am new to this. Again, the pickup has 98,500 miles.

    - Oil Change / Filter / Air Filter
    - Power Steering Fluid Flush & replace Cap (Reservoir Cap has been missing for no telling how long so I think replacing all the fluid is a must)
    - Replace Lower Ball Joints, as recommended
    - Replace broken tailgate latch
    - Replace bad blower control module

Would it be smart at this point to replace the coolant & transmission fluid as well? Since the pickup has been sitting for a couple months, any recommendations on any kind of motor treatment? I know Seafoam is popular.

You guys are super helpful, especially to someone who doesn't know much. Thanks!

The frame doesn't alarm me, @oklahomie96. Worth checking the trouble spots closely, but I expect you'll be fine. I think you're getting a great deal on a fine little truck. Welcome to Tacoma ownership!

The key spots to check are where the rear frame arches above the front spring hanger. Here's a 2004 truck on the back lot of the Toyota dealer in my Rust Belt home town in southeastern Ohio that was one of the very last accepted into the frame replacement program.

Note especially the large crack in the frame on the passenger side. This is what led the dealer to immediately take the truck off the road when the young man brought it in. I spoke to him -- he'd been driving a brand new Tacoma for 2+ months while the dealership waited for the right frame to arrive.

...At one point that dealership was doing a LOT of frame replacements!
