I got some new long tube headers for my second gen 4runner and I went to put them in and they rub against one of the brake lines. I’m assuming that’s not good. Does anyone have experience of moving solid brake lines.

I’m posting on this thread because there’s no one on the second gen 4runner thread.

    Watch the roadkill/engine masters episode
Specifically about banging the crap out a header tube for fitment issues

    Then they tested HP
With hammer job and without hammer job to header tube
    No difference.
    Was very interesting

Ya that’s what I’ve heard. I’m wondering if the brake line and the exhaust header is something to worry about.

    After “hammering” that tube

I would fab some sort of heat shield
Or at least wrap that b line coil with that heat dispersion material

I did the same for a small harness that is 1” away from my turbo

    gemme a min
Let me find the package and leftover

I found the small unused portion
90% sure this was what I bought

Will that work though if it’s touching?

    Your decision

but I would def bang that tube till u get at least .5inch of clearance
That with heat thing should work

be careful, but you can bend that BL back lil bit too…..use 2 hands and don’t kink BL

it’s worth taking off header to do job right

Thanks the headers aren’t on permanently yet just taking them in and out to see if they fit.

Just make sure there's SOME kind of air gap and it's fine. I would not use the radiant heat shield on this application (and will cause the distance needed to increase). The heat shield will burn if in contact with the exhaust, yes
