Came in to say the same.
Ceramic coat it - even a DIY coating with regular washes and some spray ceramic coating to touch up will do wonders.
    https://www.amazon.com/Autokcan-Ceramic-Anti-Scratch-Hydrophobic-Protection/dp/B08MTBHS7N

I'm using AutoKcan. Is it some cheapo-chinesium from Amazon? Yep - you betcha! Is it doing better than wax? Absolutely. With a litttle maintenance like Mothers CMX after a wash it will last a good 2 or 3 years out here in the AZ sun.

Truck is outside 24/7 and off road once a month at a minimum. It goes in the snow up north and out in the sand in the Valley of the Sun.

I do an Iron Decontamination with a little very light light polish in it.
Wash it real good (2x) to get that polish and iron decontaminate spray off of it.
    Ceramic Coat it.

It is a process. Takes a good half a Saturday. But that's 4 to 6 hours every 900 to 1000 days.

I have people ask me - Why not Ceramic coat it and THEN wax it for belt and suspenders protection? And you absolutely can. It gives you all of the protection of Ceramic that vastly out performs wax and all of the labor, maintenance, and time spent that waxing entails. So if you just like rubbing your truck with wax, you can keep doing it. Does it extend the life of the ceramic? Maybe by a few months. Is it as good as misting with CMX or similar after a wash? No.

Ok, let me know how that works out for you. Especially, with all the paint problems listed on this site. My insight comes from 30+ years in the collision repair industry. Ski

I have been a detailer for 40 years as a side business and have used all the sealants that have come and gone over the years. Ceramic is good but if you're having to add a touch up detail spray every few months your Ceramic is not holding up and your just adding shine and hydroponics to the finish. I have used a German Ceramic coating infused with Graphene for 6 years and reflash it every 16 to 24 months on my own vehicles and the finish is near flawless.

If wish they still made a decent Acrylic Teflon paint sealant like they did in the 80s and 90s as that stuff was amazing and lasted a good 2 years and I would put it against any Ceramic today as far as protection. This stuff was long before detail sprays.

But, have you polished it every year? or multiple times? That is what I am getting at. If a person polishes their auto with even a mildly abrasive corrective polish, or pad several times... They are thinning the clear coat, which is your UV protection. Over time, this will create a thin clear coat issue. Yes, you can polish through and "burn" the clear through to the base (color) coat. every couple of years. Only when it’s time to apply new coating. Quite aware of you can burn through paint. Less like with orbital versus a rotary.

Genuinely curious; why not just say what you use? Seems easier than searching, copying the link, posting...then searching, copying the link and posting again when the first one doesn't work...

But, on that note, your second link also doesn't work.. :anonymous:

Edit: it did the second time I clicked it. The first time just brought up a white blank page. And for anyone in the future when the bing link invariably breaks, it's "KISHO Si-901" and the direct link is: https://www.kisho-coating.com/kisho...cs-glass-coating/germany-ceramic-coating.html

I get a commercial unbranded coating for my business from them and you wouldn't be able to buy it unless your a commercial buyer from the distributer. Also they don't have the coating I used 6 years ago. The company upgraded it with a name change so it would have been pointless to just give the name. I have used about 5 different types for customers and this one proves to be the best with zero issues and the longevity is pretty good.

Thanks for the clarification. So to disambiguate a bit - this is "closest that's available to the unwashed masses" to what you applied 6(!) years ago to your personal vehicle; but you have used the linked "KISHO Si-901" on customer vehicle(s), and seems to be..well, to add some ambiguity back, 'almost' as good? Say you weren't a commercial detailer anymore, this is at least one you'd consider to use for yourself?

Thats what I use for my vehicles and customers vehicles. I was sent a few sample kits to try. Thats how I found out of the product. There are others that I'm sure are good but this product serves me well.

I avoid putting it on stuff that would normally not wax. Like rubber & Plastic trim.

I do use it on glass roofs and windows - including the windshield. (No need for wipers!).
