I have been using this website non stop and it's helped like crazy. But I'm stuck losing my mind. I have a 1999 Toyota Tacoma 3.4L it says prerunner and sr5 on it. It's got the half extended cab. Not the 4 door one and it is not 4WD. It does have the rear differential lock button (I know what it does but not really sure when I would use it). But my real question is I replaced the power steering system. The pump sensor lines belt pulley rack ball joints tie rods. I have not gotten it aligned yet (don't know if that has anything to do with it or not) but now the truck won't shift out of park. I have to use the little shifter bybass thing next to the shifter and then everything is perfect. I know about the fuses. The 15 amp stop fuse under the hood is blown. I replace it and it fixes the problem for 1 or 2 shifts. Well once I put it into park it normally blows again. Really hoping I don't have to retrace wires and look for a short. I have seen on this site about the tail light / trailer harness issue as well. I have that same issue. I think it is all related. There supposedly a 5amp fuseable link on that harness wire. But my truck does not have it under the rear seat or under the truck. It has some sort of new looking box on it. Idk if it is after market or not. I bought the truck used. Any ideas please and thank you. Desperate here.

Yeah, if you're having the trailer harness issue, you'll probably have to get that fixed soon. Mines had it as well, but I ended up just cutting the wires in the rear that connected to it (don't tow), and just capping them. Not too sure how that would result in a short for your stop fuse though? Sounds pretty complicated and would advise you to check any grounds you might have disconnected when you were working on the pump sensor lines/power steering area?

My fuse blew when the trailer light connector shorted out on the bed. Check yours and the wires from it to see if they are rubbed. Also if the fuse is blown, you have no brake lights.

Think it's time to throw in the towel on this one.

I have your exact model truck. Previous owner had a lazy crimp on the rear brake light wire for the camper shell. It would occasionally make contact with the bed frame until I wrapped it in electrical tape.
You likely have a short, it's just a matter of how easy is it to find?
