    Just fyi..

Wild peaks at4 are made in USA
    Rubitreks are made in Thailand

Both are great but just keep that in mind

Alright, so I bought a set of Rubitreks in the stock size, standard load. Had them installed yesterday. They are the loudest tire I’ve ever owned. I’ve had K02s, Toyo AT2s, Cooper AT3s. They remind me of the BFG Mud tires on my buddies Cherokee.

Every review and post I saw on these said quiet for what they are.

Am I just crazy? Did I get a bad set? I’ve played with the air pressure, no difference.

I’m going to try and return them. Uphill battle I’m sure, but they really are loud as hell.

I run Rubitreks on both of my Tacoma's and haven't noticed much in the way of road noise. I can't help but wonder if you got a faulty set. Compared to the Wildpeak At3ws I ran before, I would say the Rubitreks are a bit quieter but the difference isn't huge. Certainly a world of difference from any mud tire I've ever driven with before though.

I put in a good 10-20 miles of driving on mountainous logging roads in various states of disrepair every day for work on these tires, and they have so far performed admirably (including towing on these roads). I haven't put them through a winter yet so I can't speak to how well they'll handle the snow and ice but I'm overall quite happy with the tires for the price.

I’m also very satisfied with my Rubitreks. Quiet and great handling on dry and wet asphalt. I’ve been mostly in sand off-road and they seem great.

Wonder if @EarlHickey has a bad tire or set….also what tire did you have before replacing them with the Rubitreks??? Best wishes on getting another set or different tires.

Have around 10K miles on mine and still quiet. I’ve had General grabbers ATs , Cooper discoverer AT 4s , Yokohama geolander g015 at and Wildpeaks. The Rubitreks are more quiet vs the Grabbers and a tad more quiet vs Wildpeaks…..the Coopers and Yokohamas are a tad more quiet but a lot less aggressive tread vs the others. All these were P265/70r17 size on a 8.5” wide wheel.

Very pleased overall with the Rubitreks and would definitely purchase again.

Thank you both for your responses.

I did fire off an email to Falken. I’ll see what they say.

Drove 100 miles at 75MPH on them today. Smooth. They don’t feel unsafe, or defective, just loud. Wondering if perhaps having a camper shell on is helping transmit more noise from the bed of the truck into the rear glass. Almost sounds like the noise is behind me.

I am coming from the factory tires. So for sure I’d expect more noise, just doesn’t seem to match up with my old 2006 with Toyo AT2s.

At this point I may just run them and eventually do something else.

Drove in 30 degree temps with a bit of snow, not really sticking to the road yet, mostly just wet. They are very good in that situation. Very sticky.

I have a Leer shell as well. It does amplify the road noise especially in the back seat.
There’s an old thread on this forum where some members were pushing a foam “pool noodle” up from underneath the truck between the bed and cab. Supposed to cut down a bunch of road noise….may be worth a try.
A lot of that road noise gets trapped between the cab and camper shell then bleeds through the cab vents behind the rear seats.

I have a TRD Sport as well (mine is 2010), and I have the wheels and tires from a TRD Off Road I bought from another Tacomaworld member. I'm lookin at gettin these Rubitreks, do you have any rubbing with that 265/70R17 size?

No rubbing, but they are 265/75R16 just for clarification. Should be fine with 265/70R17 on OEM wheels, but I've heard some may experience mudflap rubbing at lockout on stock. Depends on each truck, age of suspension and wheel offset.
