2013 Tacoma Pre-runner with towing package - Looking to tow roughly 4,500 lbs (2 person pull behind camper) at most twice a month.

I am trying to decide the best course of action for the suspension upgrade... I understand that I am capable of towing that weight currently but I do not want to stress the taco that much.

I am considering something like Old Man Emu shocks with leaf springs, Sumo springs, airbags, or RAS.

I do not want to have to mess with the suspension too much when hooking up the camper. Ideally something that activates when needed and provides a nice ride when not in use. Since I will not be towing frequently I am leaning towards OME or Sumo springs.

I have read through as many forums as I could find as well the TW towing bible.

Looking for suggestions from people with a similar situation and experience.

I have read similar threads on towing but they did not specify the frequency of towing.

    Thanks!

Among other things, you mentioned RAS, which would be good for your situation. I tow a camper at 3300 lbs about 6 times a year and I have Hellwig Helpers installed since 2020. Once set up you never have to be concerned again. Ride is great both loaded and unloaded.

I would consider towing twice a month frequent. Just to clarify is the 4500lbs dry or loaded weight? “Roughly 4500 lbs” tells me you’re not sure of the weight. Do you know what the hitch weight is? What specific travel trailer do you have? Knowing more about what you are towing will help to make recommendations.
    Do you have a wdh?
