I had some minor body work done to right quarter panel - I’m very happy with the way it came out - I think the body shop guy told me they had to remove the bumper to do the work. I don’t really remember. I’ve had the truck back a week. No issues with the BSMs. Everything was fine.

Yesterday I towed my boat down to the Gulf Coast of Louisiana, launched my boat and left my truck in a gravel parking lot for about 30 hours in a Very warm and humid environment. My truck has been there many times. Got back in it today, recovered the boat (bumper didn’t get near the water) and was towing the boat home. All good.

About 90 miles into the return trip I get the dreaded BSM error message.

I turned off the BSM switch on the dash and the warning light goes away.

I stopped for lunch figuring the whole thing just needed to reset but no such luck.

    Couple of random thoughts-

Any chance my trailer lights caused a short of something? The trailer lights are working fine as are my truck’s lights.

I’ve towed the same boat on the same trailer since I got the truck. Could one of the sensors be picking up something on the trailer or the boat ((boat is still hooked up to truck as I type).

I’m going to call the body shop guy (who I like and seems like a pro) and ask him what he thinks but why Would this happen a week after the truck left the shop?

Is it possible one of the BSM connectors wasn’t properly connected and just popped apart?

if I wanted to spray the connectors for the BSMs is there a good YouTube video someone could direct me to or talk me through on exactly where the are located?

I’ve not looked under truck yet because I have fish to clean.

Any help, guidance or suggestions would be most appreciated.

Last week I drove through some deep water on the freeway. Splashed up everywhere. A few more miles I got the Blind Spot Monitor not available message. The next day I sprayed the BSM connections with contact cleaner and let it dry out. Then drove about 5 miles with the Unavailable message showing and it cleared itself up and the message when away. I found this thread helpful in troubleshooting my BSM error.
