    Hi all,
Last month me and my dog got rear ended by a crazy woman on her cellphone. She was going 60 mph but could only drop to 40 mph when she hit the pickup. We were completely stopped because of traffic at that time.
I was surprised how solid the truck was.
Maybe it's due to the hitch bolted to the frame. See photos for my damage and her damage.
Got a cervical and lumbar sprain and the dog was ok...was very happy to own a truck that day!!

Glad you and your dog aren’t seriously injured. The hitch does help keep the Tacoma damage less.

    like the unstoppable sticker.

I had a buddy who got rear ended by a Honda Civic. He was in his 1954 Caddilac. Her car was totaled. He had a scuffed bumper.

The truck got checked at a body shop and they said bumper and brackets only frame intact.
The tonneau cover backed up 2 inches and it broke a clamp so they will replace it as well

Thankfully you're ok. But it was probably really your fault cause I'm sure she can multitask, right!? People on cell phones while driving make me nuts. I sometimes wish I had one of those obnoxious super loud truck horns or one that sounds like the ones when someone scores a goal in a hockey game. I'd slip up next to them and let it rip. Evil thought, I know.

Thats pretty typical. The front end of all vehicles, including Tacoma's, are built with a crumple zone in the front. They are designed to crush like that. The engine is designed to break loose and go down toward the pavement instead of the passenger compartment. That slows the impact and reduces injuries.

The solid frame and tow hitch reduced visible damage. But there could still be unseen damage. Good to see yours did not.
