Hi all, thought I had seen a post on this recently, but couldn't locate it in the search function.

My driver's door, all of a sudden last weekend, starting squeaking when opening or closing it. Its been raining all the time in the PNW again, so perhaps that's contributing, but it sounds like my 40+ year old squarebody Chevy door, except the Taco is like new / only a few months old and has 4k miles vs 400k miles...

I haven't shot the hinges with anything yet in case its something aside from just needing to be greased.

Anyone had this happen and did your dealer do anything about it besides using some WD40 or lithium grease on the hinge mechanisms? If that's all it needs, then I'll just do that myself vs wasting time at the dealer, but wanted to see if this was something else (like an adjustment or...)

    Thx

Im going to get flamed but ill say it anyway...
Dont spray it with anything, take it to the dealer while it making the noise...
Nothing will be improved if you dont...
You really feel you should spray a door hinge on a $50k truck cuz of rain???
It doesnt rain on the door hinge....
But responses youre going to get here is fix it yourself with silicone spray, dont waste your time at the dealer, I can fix it better than those idiots, etc...
If you document it now, then it happens again, you developed a pattern...
    Its to your benefit.

Before you duck, I’m inclined to agree with you, though I’d understand why somebody might not think it’s worth the effort of dragging themselves down to a dealer that might not be nearby and leaving their truck there for who knows how long.

On one hand, getting issues documented helps you in the long run. Helps other people, too, as it helps Toyota establish patterns.

On the other hand, after they enter your complaint and document that they reproduced it, all they’re probably going to do is spray some stuff in the hinges.

Check the 10mm bolts on the thing. I can never remember what it’s called. Door stopper? Mine were loose and it started making noise, though not a squeak.

I would just hit it with some silicone spray. Don’t make it more complicated than it needs to be.

    It’s a door check..
That’s what the part is called.
You may have it effective One and Buy spraying it here just masking the fault temporarily…
That’s why I say it’s always best to get it checked out and not take matters into your own hands…
They may be very aware that they have a batch of bad door checks…
