I was definitely tense going up LOL But man I almost bailed. There was one section where I was kind of struggling and uncomfortable. I was like I'll try another angle one more time, If I don't make it, I'm done.. The Avotaco said "hold my petrol" lol
It wasn't truly impressive until I hiked down to that section, looked at how the tires clawed into the ground, started hiking back up and realized the truck hauled 5500 pounds of vehicle, equipment and people up that terrain.

I hear you. Were you able to have a fire or were there restrictions? You picked a great way to get away, definitely looking forward to syncing up. I'll PM you my contact. I won't be able to make the trip to Joshua Tree or AZ, but if you have a camera, you'll get some great Astro photography shots.

There no restrictions for me haha. I just do it. Its winter right now anyway, everything is wet. Just be a responsible adult when theres a camp fire. I always have fire extinguisher nearby in the summer. And put it out if the ranger says theres a restriction. Most of the time they just ask me to buy a permit on the spot anyway (probably going into their beer fund).

I was just curious because while i was in Sonora, I didn't realize how large the fire restrictions were until I went to get my wilderness permit. Looks like they have restrictions until December. Not sure if it changes with weather etc.

Yosemite just lifted their restriction and I'd expect given the weather, others may soon lift theirs.

    Sweet!

Haha is this a good response?

I'm trying to gather interest for a snow wheeling trip on MET. What do you think?
