I’m looking to manual swap my 04 Tacoma 2.4l regular cab. Just looking to see what transmissions I can mount up? I’ll be doing all the work. Fab, wiring ext… the photo below is a Tranny I’m going to pick up tomorrow weather it fits or not. I’ll re-sell it. He gave me no information on it, he doesn’t know anything about it. Possibly identify what I’m going to pick up? Looks pre-95

I’m reading my 04 will accept the W59, but that’s a 4wd I believe, would the W58 be 2wd? I’m so new to the tacomas that’s my issue

Wow, very very nice. I’ll be referring back to that! What about wiring? How’d you get around that, or is it plug and play?

From auto to manual, I just kept the "PNDR" selector from the auto tranny and left it plugged in on Park so it would start. Spliced the Reverse wire to match with the manual tranny's reverse indicator. Grounded it and it worked.

Currently it starts if you leave it in gear. You can get around that by splicing into the Park wire to your clutch pedal. I just haven't found the need for that yet.
