Sad Day I got rear ended.

Mine got sideswiped about a month ago. The 3-4 month repair time kinda has me chocked. Guess it’s too early to tell if yours it a total loss or not. No airbags means maybe a chance.

 

It was considered totaled. MY insurance payed me out and I bought it back because it wasn't that bad.

 

The Frames the biggie for me. If that’s tweaked, it’s gone.

 

their is some frame movement. its small, but enough to get total

 

My insurance company called me one day to suggest that I remove my collision coverage. They said they'd pay me so little in the event of a collision that it was not worth having. I was kind of surprised but I figured they stand to benefit more from this than I would.

Did they pay you fairly? Did they sell it back to you reasonably? Did the difference equate to the repair costs? I worked with a guy who had an F150 and got rear ended. The mounts for the box were bent but that was the only frame damage and they still wrote it off. He bought it back and fixed himself.. apparently saved a few $$$ too.

they gave me 17K for it. I bought it for 25K in 2017. I payed 5K to buy it back

 

I just got an alignment and everything was in spec. So I'm happy with that

 

Right on. Any trouble getting/passing a safety inspection?

it adds up! i hit a deer with my f150 and overall it didnt look bad but it added up to 6500 in damages with all the stuff behind the grill and bumper that i didnt know about...

 

No you didn't have suspension damage like mines. I only spent like 3K with a body shop painting my panels

 

take everything off and move the body frame to straighten it with this tool i used

 

I’ll just let the shop handle it. Loss of use keeps me in a rental til it’s repaired anyway.

 

much easier to just let a shop do it lol. took mine about two ish weeks? then i got it back better then when i bought it lol

 

What in the world, that's bananas..what state do you live in? I can't see why they'd do it unless they're in a place with a lot of claims and they're desperate to reduce liability (wildfires, floods, hurricanes...).
