I wish you the best in this endeavor. I printed off the TPU plugs that hold the "fangs" in, and now one side of my cupholder is huge. Ask me in a month if I left them in and printed off a second set for the other side.

LOL. I saw those. With the mug and travel mug I use every day, it still wouldn't work. I'm going to have to design an offset for the mug handle as opposed to being just straight across. Hoping to actually reuse the "fingers", just have them right-side up so they work the way they should. We'll see if that's even possible....

That's what I use for my travel mug. Sure, it fits, but you have to lean it over about 15 degrees to get the "fingers" to let it in. Also, I carry an large ceramic mug as well. The handle won't allow it to fit next to the Yeti but they both fit perfectly in my 2023 Civic so clearly mods must happen ;)

I printed four of those cap things if anyone wants them. I’m not going to use them.

I printed two and think I'll print two more. I think I like the no-claw cup better.

The jury is still out for me. I just really don’t want to push that spring all the way in for a long time… just in case I ever want to use it and then I broke it or made it all loose from being compressed too long…

I did a single tab in the rear finger but left the front uncovered. It's been way better but it's still an awful design.

    Not much really. Just touches.
Those 4 spring loaded things have to be in upside down. Is there a video how to remove the cup holder? Turn those things over and they'll be fine.

I pulled the center console and removed the cup holder. Working on learning how to 3D scanner so I can design a replacement. The retention "fingers" are designed so they can only fit one direction. No flipping them over. I am probably going to put the cup holder back in without them until I can get one designed and printed.

Did you look at the fingers? They have to be upside down! They have the angle on the bottom and they slide aside from the bottom. They would work fine if there was a way to turn them over. And you have to remove the center console to remove the cup holder? Is there a video how to do that?

I literally said I had to pull the console and that i removed the fingers. Hard to do that without looking at them.
The console is very easy to remove if you have done any interior work before. 4 bolts in the box, 2 screws under the shifter surround (which just pops off). You also have to remove 3 bolts holding the rear of the grab handle on. One under the shifter surround and 2 on the side behind a panel. Console the. Has to be lifted slight up and slid back.

Ya - but did you look at them?

I guess I won't bother removing the console if they're not upside down. Damn they sure look and behave like it.

these are the yetis we use, and they fit perfectly. they did not fit the middle holder in my 2016, always had to put it in the rear holder (and inevitably forget it in the truck).

I took the console up. The mounts for those retainers are molded into the cup holder. They can't be flipped. The retainers could be reused only if a new cup holder had the mounts reversed.

I'm a touch annoyed that I can't slide a 1 liter bottle easily into the center holders... it fits once open and the bottle can flex a bit, but annoying. Also annoyed that the door pockets can't fit a 1liter bottle or a 44oz vacuum bottle. I would have forgone the almost useless middoor pocket for a larger deeper door option. Doing a road trip yesterday highlighted that unless it's a 0.5L/16.9oz throwaway bottle, it's next to impossible to set in or pull out a bottle from the rearward door pocket on the front doors - the side of the seat blocks the access. We couldn't offload/swap a double walled 20oz coffee mug for a water bottle without opening the door! WTF testing went into that one?
