My 2023 Tacoma trail came with some lift from the factory. I had already been wanting to get the rear end up at least to match the front, and then i installed a cap. It’s a beast of a cap and the rear sits a bit lower now.

looks bad to me. I would like to lift only the rear up to what I’d call level and maybe a little more to compensate for the caps weight.

given that the Trail model has a bit of a lift from Toyota , would a simple leveling kit for a 4x4 Tacoma do the trick or would it need to be something else? I don’t want an elaborate expensive setup here, just want to get the ass end at least level or a tad higher than the front.

thanks in advance for any suggestions on how to go about that!

    Long story short:

If you have the cash, get a nice full leaf pack for the amount of extra weight in the rear.

To spend less cash, grab an add-a-leaf to bring the rear up a bit.

OEM lift is just a block

Cheap route is to use a bigger block than Toyota did.

Best bet is to get a good rear leaf spring pack. The add a leaf will end up sagging over time and you will be in the same position. I had an add a leaf on mine, and after I added a cap, the rear started sagging after a year.

A leveling kit refers to bring the front up to match the rear height, fyi. Most trucks, Tacomas included, come with some amount of rake, back higher than the front

You will need to add a block, or leaf springs to raise the rear
There are a few other options, airbags for one, they ride pretty crappy empty but if you always have the cap on then it’s not a bad solution

Thanks for the replies. Had I not put the cap on I would have opted for the leveling kit. Now I don’t think that would quite level it. I’ll check out the better kits, thanks !
