It’s raining pretty good finally. It smell like smoke really bad outside from all the forest fires around here . There’s a fire been burning for about 3 days 20 miles from here . Got up at 4 to hunt looked outside and went back to bed . See what happens this afternoon.

 

I’ve probably got 70-75 hunts in so far this year, and it’s been painfully slow here. I’ve seen a fair amount of deer including a few decent bucks that just didn’t quite make the, hang on the wall criteria. When it comes to seeing big bucks and rut activity, it’s been almost nonexistent. I hope this weekend which is our first gun season, and colder temps will get them moving more.

 

I've heard this from several people around our area as well. Only rut evidence I've seen is more deed dear laying beside the road.

 

Has it been unusually warm also ? It is here .

 

Our temps have been up and down but no extended cold spells.

 

Felt like we had a pretty busy year in my area this year. Lots of bucks out. Several people in my camp got bucks on the first day.

 

On the way to my Sister's place yesterday bout 5 miles away, I saw a big bodied carcass in the side of the road. Headless.

 

Smoke column came down my way last couple days.

 

All the large bucks here are still nocturnal.
Does are showing up on the cams with their skippers last few nights.
Kind of glad I shot that dink last week as it was the only opportunity so far to get some meat in the freezer.
Rut seems to be a bit messed up this year.

Same here. It was eerily quiet opening morning. 2 hours in before I heard the first gunshot. Heard less than 10 before I walked out at 11:00. It was around 70° here 2 days ago, now there's 2 in of snow on the ground.

 

Wife shot my 220 yesterday from bout 80yds.
I could have bumped it up 1/2 in, but I think it's GTG.
One shot is mine, the rest is her's.

 

I've been carrying my 220 for a week, I want to shoot something with it so bad. Can shoot does again Saturday

 

I dunno seems warmer than usual but bout the same for deer disappearing for rifle season.
