I've tried reading thru some of the threads and still pretty confused.

I have a 2019 sr5 w/ factory halogen fog lights currently. Want to grab a pair of elites to replace with.

Do i need to grab the pnp backlight harness or is it not going to work on a sr5 model? I see some people saying doesnt and some grabbing a kit from @daveeasa. I guess something about flashing with signals?

Can someone with first hand experience help me out?

    And

    https://fbchs.square.site/product/diode-dynamics-backlight-plug-and-play-harness/12

2x12” singles. That will flash with turns.

Or if you don’t want it to flash with turns you need this instead of the first harness and it will require wires across the grille.

The second harness will only flash with hazards.

So the harness from DD is not useful at all?

Holy crap thats a lot of adapters...lol. Not sure im really interested in the backlight feature if its going to cost that much in extra adapters. No offense, im sure your adapters a great quality but im not really interested in the "bling" of backlights if its going to require all kinds of extra stuff just to function.

I dont need any adapters to just make the fogs work on the sr5, correct? (no backlight feature)

The DD harness is off the TRD DRL connector and won’t work with SR / SR5 / Trail. It should say this in the product description.

yes it’s a lot of work to get backlighting. I don’t have backlights on my ‘16, but I bought before they were an option.

Awesome that clears it up for me at least. I do appreciate your help.

One other question since you are knowledgable on these...:) What the heck is "stalk" i see people talking about?

In the Nitori fog light thread there are two options for turning fog lights on and off.

one such option is a push button switch which can go in the driver cubby where AT Tacoma has a single tall blank for the clutch start cancel button we MT have in that spot (CSC only comes in Tall and the OEM fog switch is a 2nd Gen item so I believe it only comes in tall as well)

aftermarket push button could also work but the Nitori thread is all about using OEM parts.

The alternative option is replacing the headlight stalk with one that has a fog light switch on it, for trucks that came without fog lights but who want the nice switch. This switch is standard in TRD trims.

My preference is the stalk option and I have replacement stalks for my ‘05 Tacoma and ‘02 Tundra but have yet to get around to installing them. So I use the OEM push button on my Tundra (similar to the Tacoma fog button but oval since first gen tundra had a rounded theme) and I haven’t yet done any fog lights in my ‘05 Tacoma.
