back from the island of misfit toys….

 

I’m packing up for the year too. I got soaked just about every single time I went out.
The closest I came was a blacktail on a lower slope that I jumped on the way in one morning in the dark. On the way out I found some decent rubs in that spot. So I went back and snuck in there in some driving rain. I got to within a couple hundred feet from the rubs and my eye caught a new one that I hadn’t noticed before. While I was staring at it, the buck jumps up outta his bed between me and the new rub! … my scope caps were both still on and he ran away. Without looking back (which is weird for that species)
My eyes aren’t what they used to be and I ve just started using these transitions lenses. I like ‘em but they require some practice I think! Anybody else jam a reading glass lense in their scope too? Helps me focus on the targets AND still make out the reticle.

Saw 4 doe this morning and a spike this afternoon. It’s finally getting colder so hopefully some older class deer start moving . It’s gonna be tough passing up anything with 6 points or better now . Try and hold out for a rack wider than the ears and 8 points or better but that’s tough around these parts . Big 4 pointer I’ve seen 3 times was shot by a neighbor. There’s a few spikes I know my other neighbor will shoot if he can .

Well the only thing I seen this morning was that Hornady is releasing the 25 CM next year... I got basketball game to get to for the rest of the day, but I'm off till next Monday and the weather looks perfect

 

My buddy shot one in Georgia a couple of years ago, I think his was a real deer tho.
