Remote start stopped working

I have a 2021 Toyota tacoma sport remote start that stopped working after I installed a CBI bumper.. I’ve read about subscriptions that may be needed however I’ve never had any subscriptions prior and it was working fine. All the doors are closed, The hood is shut, Gas is over a quarter full, the batteries are good, there are no wires that are being pinched or anything.. Just wondering if anyone else is having this issue. I also took it to the dealer and they think it’s the DCM that is not communicating however it’s a newer model truck so I don’t see why that would fail. Wondering if I should purchase a aftermarket remote to start.

 

I'm not sure I'd be so quick to blame the bumper...

According to what's posted there, you'd have to pop the SIM chip out of the module to disable its communication since removing the whole module apparently also disables remote start. This is just my theorizing though, I have a manual trans truck which I don't think any ever came with remote start.

Since yours already quit on you, you might have to go aftermarket (or maybe it's possible to subscribe and then have it start working again? And then disable your module before cancelling the subscription and have it stay working? I don't know)

Hit the unlock button 3 times. first and second hit then off third time hold it truck should start

 

I think you meant the “Lock button”. My 21 still works from the Fob. I ditched the app after the free period ended.

 

Mine still works after over 3 years. Never signed to any kind of subscriptions or app from day one. Read somewhere that the remote will still work up to 10 years.I have the Premium Package maybe that is why. Not sure
