Extended travel 2.5 shocks without UCA's?

    what's the concensus of running extended travel front coilovers with the stock UCA's? Would the UCA hit the coilover at full droop?

    Binding ball joints, not getting all the travel you paid for, problems with alignment etc....

    Got a buddy who wants to run it that way, and I told him it should be fine as long as he doesn't wheel hard and doesn't put himself in situations where the wheels come off the ground.

    I figured the ball joints maybe binding, but if the UCA contacts the coilover before that, that would be more of a no-go. For a commuter/dd I can't imaging you're getting into the range of travel where the UCA ball joint gets to max droop.

    Alignment wouldn't be an issue if you just set it to the same ride height as before.

    Never had that issue with stock UCA's, extended travel Kings, and cv axles that had better articulation than stock

    It entirely depends on what "extended travel" means from the manufacturer. Most of them are not actually extended travel, so you can run them just fine with stock UCAs.

    King "extended travel" is extended compared to their own standard travel spec, but are still 1/4" shorter than ADS "standard travel" coilovers, for instance. Both can be run on stock UCAs with no problem.

    The particular coilovers he's looking at are the Fox 2.5s with remote resis. Which are the same ones I have and are definitely extended travel. Longer extended length than kings iirc.
    I would imagine the ADS are similar to the foxes in extended length, so that's good to hear there's no issue with stock UCAs.
