Koditten random project/boat build thread.

A flatbed trailer works well for rafts- you then get a nice clean platform to deflate and roll it up for storage. I saw a nice one that had an upper deck for other gear also.

As for the gunnel question- it was about your boat. I’ll check the older one out also, thanks!

 

Do you have a photo of your thole pin mount on the gunwale of your other boat? Looking for ideas.

 

I do not. I'll make sure I take pics when I get to that point.

Do you keep any of those? I’ll keep a fish from time to time, but not often. If I’ve foul hooked one I do….

 

I keep the fresh ones. I only keep one for myself. I have peeps in my family that love salmon, so I give most away.

I'll have some smoked as well. I have a buddy that has an amazing brine recipe that he sokes the fish in before smoking. I don't even bother to try to smoke them myself. I leave that to the pro smoker.

I'm the guy that fixes everyone's shit, so I get some perks.

 

It all works out in the end .


Would love to fish in Michigan. On my bucket list for sure…..

 

Never fished east of the Rockies, west sider myself. One of my favorites is going for steelies in the morning - love seeing them kicking rooster tails in the water as they race over a gravel bar with their backs sticking up out of the water!

 

This my best spring steelies.

No dams between the steam and lake Michigan. Because of this fact, we can fish for them all year .

 

Ah, so they are spawning up from the lake? Cool. Any lake trout there? Those guys are real lunkers!

Been fishing this river for 20 years+. Never hooked a lake trout. They stay out in the lake Michigan .

 

Got the roller fabbed up. Should make it easier to drop/load the raft at unimproved boat ramps.

 

So that's where those rollers we throw away at work are going...

 

Customer of mine bent the shit out of his grass deflector.

Asked if I could bend it back.

The 10 gauge iron was stubborn and resisted me beating it into proper shape.

Is was no challenge after I made some relief cuts with the plasma cutter.

A quick coat of paint and it's ready for the customer to bend it next season.

 

Finished up the river boat trailer.

Hope to deliver it Monday.
