They don't make appliances like they used to. I have to pull the computer board out if my fridge the other day. Luckily it was just a loose connection.

My new fridge has already had the compressor replaced twice and the door seal replaced under warranty. Should have kept the 10 year old fridge that was working perfect

I was fortunate enough to buy one of the infamous samsung fridges about 7 years ago that has a sealing issue between the ice maker and the fridge so the ice doesnt stay frozen is goes back and forth and clogs and binds up the tray/dispenser to the point that it cant be used. (https://www.wrtv.com/news/wrtv-inve...d-against-samsung-regarding-defective-fridges)

So now we just have the ice turned off and bought a counter top ice maker...

Hah, i have that same fridge. Got it in 2017. I actually love it. Layout and features (at least for the time) are great. We just started having the icemaker freeze up on us a few months ago. Ive found that as long as i use about a cups worth of ice a day, it stays clear, but if i don't use any ice for a week, it freezes up. Wife and i arent ice people, so i really really jst give it a check before we have ive lovers staying with us. 2 philips head screws and 3 minutes with a heat gun and its thawed out and ready to rock again.

Seeing the third gen section forced me to get a Ford...
had my samsung fridge since 2010, but it's been showing 88 88 on the panel for like 5+ years :D

about to replace all of the kitchen appliances for the first time since the house was built in 2010. replaced the roof, both AC units now. also had a shitty samsung washer and dryer set that was constantly broke. went to GE and no issues. Going to get the same for my kitchen stuff soon too.

Living out of the truck up north would be tough for me. I hate cold weather. I slept in my camper shell all summer down here though. I change my oil every 56 days due to how much I drive. You have me beat. Haha. As far as lighting goes have you upgraded your fogs yet? I just ordered some diode dyanimcs pro level fogs. I was torn between them and the new baja designs sae fogs. I hope I made the right decision.

We are back at the hospital again. I don't have to sleep in the truck, just keeping all our stuff in it. Its a little over 600 miles each way. I've been doing this drive back and forth for about a year now. The Tacoma does great. Luckily its nice and cool so I don't have to run the fridge much. Keeping this truck stock has been a great idea. Worst fuel economy I've had is around 20mpg with a strong headwind. I'm thinking about a lightbar behind the lower grill so I can have all the lumens I need.

Gotta wonder who figured electronics & water or cold mix.
Mechanical timer motor went on the old Maytag washer. $6 fixed it. While I was at it I changed the hoses & greased it. Yup, it’s got grease nipples. I suppose there’s no money in something that lasts over 30 years.

I did the heat gun and a flat head chiseling for a little while but I got tired of doing it a month or two into doing it. Not to mention at the time I was trying to do that our son was 1 or 2 so a handful to deal with and the counter top ice maker was the easier solution lol.

Truth! I’ve got a whirlpool fridge that pisses water at the drop of a hat. Replaced a perfectly good GE bc “it’s not modern”. Now the kitchen has a water feature. :smash:

Only mistake I made was asking if it was modern enough yet.

We remodeled our kitchen a few years ago and went stainless on every appliance, except the fridge. Mainly because I bought the fridge new when I bought the house 15 years ago. It was a basic white fridge with the freezer on top. Wouldn't you know she INSISTED we needed a new stainless fridge. So when Lowe's had 0% for a year, we got a bigger stainless fridge with the freezer on the bottom. But I was smart enough to get a basic version of that. It has a water dispenser inside of it requiring you to open the door to use it. Least fancy crap the better! I've had no issues with it.
Also made sure to get a basic washer and dryer. Even then I had to replace the water valve on the washer and a belt on the dryer. Neither were hard to do or expensive.

We did the same thing with ours. The board finally failed and we got to replace the whole fridge. Then a year later we moved and the new place had that same crappy fridge. Waiting to repeat the process again lol.

Yup. We were looking at the house the first time knowing we were going to buy it and the wife and I look at each other and just laugh. At least we can fit big ass pizza boxes in there again
