Hi Dave, hoping you can help me out as I know very little about wiring. I have a 2023 TRD OR with LEDs.

I recently ordered a light bar from diode dynamics and would like to wire it so that I am able to turn it on and off with one switch, and with a separate switch have the light bar turn on/off when my high beams are activated.

I looked for a 3 way rocker switch for a while but ultimately ended up buying this SPST set from CH4x4.

What is the simplest way for me to make this work? Do you sell a product for this?

    Thanks in advance!

Assuming the light bar harness was also purchased and we are ignoring backlight for now, you need one signal to feed the relay.

The dual push buttons have 5 wires. Two are for switch illumination. You can grab a harness for that from guild outfitters.

three wires left. One is fused power input. Typically you might want ignition switched but in this case constant battery works. Typically an add a fuse off a circuit which is on without the key. Lots of choices in the in cab fuse box.

the bottom button output would feed the relay coil through a diode. Then the top button is left. You need one additional relay for that and wire as such:

85 on the relay to chassis ground
86 on the relay to the top button output
30 on the relay fed from high beams. You can order an led T w high beam only from me for this lead
87 on the relay to a diode to the light bar harness.

The two diodes ensure no current back flows which would potentially turn on the high beams with the lower button or have the lower button illuminate if the top button is on when you turn on high beams at the stalk.

Thank you that was a great summary. I was going to try and tackle all this myself but may need the help of a buddy after all.

Sorry I forgot to add - I do have the plug and play harness that came with the light bar. I will order one switch illumination harness and one daisy chain harness from Guild for the two switches.

Now getting into the diodes and additional relays is where I start to get confused. I prefer the plug and play lol. Anyway, could you tell me exactly what diodes and relay I need? I would also like to purchase the led T with high beam that you mentioned.

I wish I knew more about this stuff

Read stuff and tinker, this is how learning happens.
The aptiv 1 amp diodes are nice since you can put them in a sealed enclosure. @caribe makaira likes a fancy and expensive 3 terminal dual diode option.

kind of worth noting that you have options for this. The diode way is a logical OR, either on and light bar is on. In essence this gives priority to the lower button. But you could have the upper button trump the lower if you wanted to, and then you wouldn’t need diodes but you would leverage a 5 pin relay and wire 30 to the light bar harness, 87a to the bottom button and 87 to high beams then the upper button to 86. That would ensure the light bar was only on with high beams whenever the top button is pressed.
It may help you to draw out a basic circuit diagram. You can look up samples on the internet. Assume the light bar is just a tiny indicator light since you’re just powering a relay coil, all of your current is signal level / low, the high current draw is handled by the light bar harness itself.

After taking some time to do additional research I now know what I need to do. Thank you for the help.

I am planning on ordering the LED T harness high beam only from you. However, I just ordered some grill lights and was looking into having these turn on when my lights are set to “auto” (on with DRL and headlights) and off when headlights and DRL’s are set to the “off” position. I saw somewhere else on your page a similar instance where you instructed the customer to order the switch-pros version instead of the high beam only to achieve this. I guess my question is should I get my light bar set up with the high beams how I want, and then address the grill lights later, or can I do it all with just a single harness from you?

I’d prefer a single T w a branch to feed the two pieces over two separate T’s. But that’s up to you.

If I go with the single T option which harness would you recommend?

I added a new option for you to make it more straightforward, though it can be confusing parsing all these options. I'll add a photo once I build yours. Driver Grille + High.

Hi Dave. Sorry to bother you again. I’ve been tinkering with everything this morning trying to get this light bar installed.

The harness that I ordered from Guild outfitters is the switch illumination harness with the daisy chain. I’m now thinking that I don’t need this daisy chain (4 wires) and would just need to connect the wires from my 2 switches (5 wires) to the switch illumination harness?

yeah, the default switch illumination is for a single button switch, for dual switches (top + bottom separate on one switch) then you're stuck either:
    1. de-pin and re-pin the illumination leads
    2. Move the center pin over from the double to the daisy chain
    3. Cut, strip and splice wires directly.
