If the dealer gives you any shit about that window or ask you to pay one cent, look them straight in the eyes and without a moments hesitation, tell them you are going to call every news station within 100 miles and do exclusive interviews about how dishonest they have been. They will have it fixed within 24 hours.

If you drive with the windows down, opening the rear reduces the buffeting in the cab.

How is this stupid. You are getting rid of a truck and you have the option of paying several hundred dollars to replace a window or $10 to slap a piece of glass in it. What would 99% of Americans do? It is pretty obvious.

I'm surprised to here all this trash talk about the rear windows. I use mine all the time because it can help provide great ventilation without harsh, noisy gusts.

    Just my 2 cents.:)

You purchased a use truck. Sometimes used trucks aren’t in like new condition.

pretty sure OP mentioned his truck Toyota Gold Certified. So it's guaranteed to function like new - comes with 1 year/12k mi. bumper-to-bumper warranty. Also means that the Truck should’ve passed a bumper to bumper inspection prior to sale.

Exactly, the fact that he found glass on the floor, points to the level of detail of their inspection.

Gold certified my ass! This dealer either absolutely missed this in their "detailed inspection" or they just hoped enough time would pass before the OP noticed. Stand your ground on this one OP, they owe you a working rear window.

Little hectic with the holidays. Anyway, all the parts are in to replace the glass and regulator. Taking it to the dealer tomorrow morning.

OK so I went to the dealer today and they changed the oil in the morning. The dealer had already ordered all factory Toyota parts to replace the regulator and back glass. They brought in a glass specialist to actually put it in, but when he got there and started looking at it, I guess he hasn’t done one of those types of swap outs before on a Tacoma with a powered glass. I’m gonna head back there Tuesday and he is going to have his more experience to coworker do it or at least walk him through the process. Apparently the back glass and slider comes as a kit somewhat and since the regulator has to be replaced, obviously the back panel has to come off The service department was great. They apologized that they wasn’t able to get it done today. The service manager did not charge me for the oil change and told me if I had to wait an extended time on Tuesday that she would give me a loaner car to use while they are replacing the glass. Can’t complain about the service at all….to be continued.

Agreed slater. Volunteered for 3 years as an Air Force recruiter. Always fixed up the guidance counselors with donuts, snacks, and office supplies during my visits. Always maintained a good relationship. They always helped me out when a student was military interested. Win win situation.

I don’t want pissed off people working on my truck or serving me food. Haha

Giving out a loaner car is also seen as a "test drive" for a possible sales opportunity.

Haha. Yea, maybe. They had a GR Corolla that looked pretty sporty but I’ll stick with the Taco.

Very good! I just have the regular slider in my 15 but I do use it when I clean the cap front window.

Nice to see a Yota dealer that actually follows up and doesn't try to weasel.
