Google Messenger Not Sending

2018 Tacoma, have messaging set up and have never had a problem. Got a notice on my Android Phone that I needed to upgrade to Google Messenger within the next month as Messages+ was being discontinued. Did that, I can send messages from my phone, incoming messages display on my Tacoma radio fine but keep getting a message that my outbound messages will not go. Anyone else have this issue?

Guess this is in the wrong place. Could an admin move it please? Sorry.

 

Uh oh. I just did that update as well.
I will have to pay attention to what works and what does not.

 

Well, I discovered something. If I get a message from an unknown number "sometimes" I can reply. But if I receive a message from my wife, no way. BUT, if I hit the button on the steering wheel and the little person in the radio says, "What can I do for you today?" and I tell it to text my wife, goes right thru.

Of course, nobody is responsible or wants to help. Just "Call Toyota", or "Call Google", etc. At the Verizon store when he finds out I don't want to spend $1000, he won't even look up from the game he's playing, just says call 611. Good luck! I cannot find any info anywhere to the reason I cannot "reply".
