    Hello All,

    First, Happy Turkey Day!

As the subject reads, this my first Tacoma. I bought a 22 Tacoma OR with a dealer installed 2” lift with aftermarket wheels and tires. Other than that, it’s pretty much stock and is an open canvas. It’s also a manual transmission. It has 37,000 or so miles on it. I’m very excited and this truck is now my daily driver. Fortunately, I telework from home so the miles will be kept fairly low on an annual basis.

When I’m not cruising in town, I plan to use this rig hunting and wheel’n with my daughter. I really wanted a side by side but I’m glad I went this route instead.

I’ve read a few threads on the forum and I’m excited to share some experiences and get advice for mods in the future.

    Initially, I’m thinking of installing:
    • A Decked drawer system in the bed
    • Banks Pedal Monster
    • Tint the front windows
    • Seat covers…I’m leaning towards the Carhartt duck camo pattern
    • I need to get a fifth wheel and tire to match the four that are mounted. I then need to attempt to mount it under the bed.
    • It has a Toyota installed tonneau cover for the bed. I may go camper shell in the future. I’ll think on this for a bit.
    • I think the truck is geared a bit high stock and even higher with the taller tires. I may gear it lower…I’ll think on this for a bit too.
    • Perhaps, a cold air intake and better exhaust when the time comes. I hate to tear out a perfectly good working exhaust.
    • New shift knob. Thinking cue ball or 8 ball. Cliche I know, but I don’t care.
    • I’m really into mountain biking. Rather than deal with the small bed and my bike(s), I may get a hitch mounted solution for a bike rack…if I go the decked route, this is definitely a consideration.
    • Maybe…aftermarket 4x4 bumpers…looking at prices…not thrilled.

That’s all I can think of at the moment!

Welcome, good looking truck! Post up the before and after of the Bank Pedal Monster. I've never heard of them until now. They are on sale right now it looks like.

    Nice truck.

FYI, if you want a camper shell, don't wait because the price could be gone up in the future. I have Leer shell on mine. It cost me $3K.

Of course, that depending the options you choose when buying a shell.

Yeah, it’s a purchase that has to wait as much as they cost…buying the truck cash cleaned me out for a bit in addition to holiday shopping.

    Any issues with your shell?

None so far. For your peace of mind, make sure to ask the shell dealer to add seal to the gaps in front of bed... So they will keep the water out.. It is not shell's problem... It is a design flaw on the 3rd gen beds.. I am sure they know what you meant, and they will put seal on it for you.

Deck and shell weigh a lot. Constant weight even empty. So combine those mods with stronger leaf packs and suitable shocks.

I have the Carhartt covers in gray. Really glad I got those.

You already have a cold air intake. Aftermarket ones only improve the loud sucking noise from your wallet. Oiled ones cause problems. Cause that's snake oil.

Dont bother with after market bumpers unless you regularly do difficult offroad. Very expensive and heavy.

I have a Kuat hitch rack. Wonderful piece of engineering.

And caulk any factory gaps up there. Not sure if it is exactly like the stupid height change like secon gen.

For spare, bigger hamer to adjust the outer brackets, and you may need to move the hoist.slighty forward IIRC to avoid hitch conflict.

Fair enough! I wouldn’t be interested in add a leaf mods, so I’ll have to rethink that.
    Copy that on intake.
Yeah the bumpers are real expensive.

Great vehicle! I put a cap and bigger Duratracs on the stock rims on my ‘23 SR. Seat covers, aluminum cap and some retro decals are my only other mods. It gets a lot of compliments. I had big plans, but the truck is so capable as it is, I just left everything else alone. My only regret is that mine is an automatic, but it’s actually more practical most of the time anyway. Indeed. I’ve had many 4x4s. Seems to be a trend.

Adding a leaf helps.. Because it will help with the shell and tent on top. I am planning to add that on mine.

I'm planning on adding a camper top and will be upgrading my leaf pack to a Deaver U402 and some bed stiffeners
