My SR came with 245's. Switched to 265/75/16 MTs and my speedometer is dead on with speed signs and GPS.

Main reason I've not considered 285's.

Oh man, this totally reminded me of being a teenager and having to push my dirtbike home 2-3 miles through the desert. too much piston slap on those 2 strokes and the piston shattered inside the cylinder more than once.
This is back when i had to order parts over the rotary phone with the curly cord.

    33" 255\85\16 - radar shows at 30 exactly 30, but at 40 it shows like 42

If you go 285's you might be 1 or 2 mph off at 70. Not enough to worry about IMO. I initially did the sane as you, 245/75 to 265/75 and found the same result, speedo was dead accurate.

With a couple of exceptions, you have to be 11 over before they can write you a ticket in GA. This goes back years ago where many small towns were nothing more than speed traps that got a significant portion of their revenue from stopping out of town folks driving through. That does not apply in school or construction zones. Also, a state trooper is not required to give you 10 but unless you're doing something else dangerous they generally do.

From the factory speedometers are rarely 100% accurate. How much you're off is based on a percentage. If you go up about 2 tire sizes you'll be off by about 5 mph at 75 or 80. At 65 only 2-3 mph and at 25 not enough to show up.

Your speedometer and odometer change as your tires wear down and get smaller. Most tires are about 1" smaller, or about one size smaller by the time you wear them out. Drive 100 miles on a set of tires near the end of their life then make the same trip after you buy new tires and it's only 95 miles.

You gotta be using the route guidance directions apparently. If I am saying that the right way. I entered a destination and voilà Speedo was going. In the 70-80 mph range, it’s more off and seems to exponential. 77, is really 80, 72 is really 74, 65 is pretty close to 65.
The google maps also told me there was a cop and asked to verify if it was still there.

    Thanks.
I was wondering where the much-promoted Speed Limit display went to. Tried myself a short trip in "Navigation Mode" and the speed limit signs showed up. Wished they were there full time.
