Hi folks, new Tacoma owner (2009 base 4x4) and new to the forum. I've been lurking a little bit and seeing what I could find on this problem, but not a lot from my searches.

I purchased my Tacoma not that long ago. It has a 2" levelling kit in the front but it otherwise stock. Came with 285/70/17. I didn't like the wheels so I took them off and replaced with the stock wheels that came with it (very old Cooper At3 265/70/16). Once I had those old wheels/tires on I started to notice VERY bad veering to the left and right. Pretty frightening in fact, very strong pulls at highway speed and if I wasn't aware of it it could easily cause a wreck. City driving is ok.

I didn't notice the problem until I swapped wheels, though the left/right pulling could suggest a steering mechanism problem. Any idea how to diagnose this?

    Thanks from a newb!

    Hmm . . . none as yet, that's why i'm here . . .
put front wheels to the rear and rear to the front.
Drive it and see what it does.
Then you can swap front wheels left to right, right to left. Drive it and report back.

Perfect, thanks for the advice. I'll be putting winters on pretty soon, so might wait for that to happen, I don't drive a ton so not an issue if it sits for a week.
