I realize the start of this thread was a few years back, but here is hoping the original poster will see this post, or someone else can help. I want to install JBL 64SQ (6.5") speakers in the rear door. Crutchfield says the speaker will not fit, because the mounting height is too great. The height from the JBL 628s used in this build is 22 mm (and a rubber baffle was used). The height of the JBL 64SQ that I'm wanting to use is 20.5 mm. Will this fit, not fit, or fit and be smashed against the door?

Let me check this weekend. I put something similar in the rear doors with no real issues.

The inside of the door panel has an extension to seal (not really) with the speaker. You may have to remove some of this extension.

I added 1 1/4” spacer/adapter to fit 8” mid bass drivers in the rear doors and they fit without issue. Eventually replaced with Skar EVL65s.

    I have no clue.
Did you not like the kickers? I have CS coming today for front and rear doors.

Sorry haven't been on here for a bit. The CSs were definitely an upgrade form stock. The 620's were an upgrade from the CS lol. Now I'm running Alpine type Rs front and rear pushing them with 100w each. 600w mono Alpine to the sub. It's a completely different animal. The 620s were repurposed into the roof pods in my side by side haha.

Honestly I thought the CS 6x9s sounded great once broken in with the Kicker Key I was running. They Key 200/500 with a speaker upgrade and a small sub is definitely the best bang for the buck.

I agree completely! I would add that sound deadening in the doors will make the 6x9s impressive!

Are the factory (jbl premium) dash speakers 3.5" or 2.75 and you made the 3.5 fit?
