I have a 2019 Sport, and the bezel seemed to fit over the newer headunit. I just ordered the harness myself. I will physically check to see if the unit fits again.

EDIT: double checked and it fits perfectly in the bezel.

I ran into the same thing last week… didn’t know it wouldn’t fit but the screen is an inch bigger. I decided to bite the bullet and just buy a new one. Bought it from a Toyota dealership in Richmond VA. This is the part # you need: 55405-04130-C5 unfortunately it’s a couple hundred bucks but I couldn’t find it on ebay. Hope that helps!

I tried, and the bezel covers up the knobs. The radio I had installed prior was the basic Entune 2.0. :(

The shipping is crazy! Thanks for the part number. I may decide to do that…I’m contemplating a few of the bezels on eBay. I could swap the trim out with the bezel I have so it matched color-wise.

You guys all see this? I just installed it on my 2017 TRD Pro and for $270, it works great. Works with all Toyota Tacoma HU from 2014-2019. Cheap and effective. Takes a little work to partially disassemble the HU to plug in the t-ribbon cables but nothing much more difficult than removing the HU. Wireless CarPlay in all its glory at a more than reasonable cost.

I'm going to give this some serious consideration when I get my truck back from the body shop. I've seen another much more expensive one that allows you to switch between the OEM display and the updated display. Does this one allow that or use limited to the aftermarket display? I should probably say OEM functions and aftermarket functions instead of display.

Yup! Hold the Home button on the factory head unit for a couple seconds and you're in OEM mode and have access to all of the screens you had previously. Do it again and you're back into CarPlay view. You'll want to make sure your source in OEM mode is set to Bluetooth as that's the source it plays sound through. Any audio sound settings (base/treble/mid) should actually be done in OEM mode.

Also, it's not in the instructions (and I'm not sure if this is a feature or whatever) but while in CarPlay mode, if you hit the Toyota app, it opens up the decoder settings screen.

    Hello All,

I am a new Tacoma owner and have been following this thread. I am looking to do the same swap for my Taco. One question I have is what 2021+ HU is the compatible swap I need? I will post my Taco's info below.

    2019 TRD Off-Road
    Entune 2.0
    Non-JBL
    Nav

Do you know if the head unit has navigation in it? Sorry I know this is an old thread but in walking down the same path. If the truck has it but the head unit doesn’t will it still work?

Did you have navigation on your old head unit, and does it work in the new one if you did? I don’t see where the sd card would go.

Most of the newer units use your phone's map app as SatNav.
