Mine came with the hood sound deadening. I'm quite sure the engineers have the cooling system figured out with the 3" water pipes.

At least that stuff doesn't make your car look like the damn Apollo lunar module. But the cheap version appears to make young kids happy when you burn it. So that's a positive.

    No.

Can a person hear a loud vehicle outside in the street, through a glass window while sitting inside their home? Yes.

So, the driver of a vehicle can hear the noise of an engine in front of them through a single sheet of metal and a windshield.

The insulation will help the paint on the hood to not prematurely fail

Only concern I have with this is whether or not it'll handle the heat of the engine - and I don't want to risk finding out the hard way.

I grew up with iron block V8's and straight sixes. Ticks, rattles and knocks that were audible, were signs of engine issues - and that thought is ingrained in me still, even though I know direct injection pumps and other newer technologies (to include using aluminum as an engine block) create more noise.

Still, this is a noisy engine, and I instinctively feel it's a problem. My truck was slightly out of alignment (steering slightly off center), which the dealer took care of. I asked about the noise, and the master tech jumped in and we went for a ride. His answer was "yeah, they're noisy. The Corollas are like this too, but I can call a factory rep if you want..."

I've been all over the engine with a mechanic's stethoscope, identifying each component's various sound(s); but there's still that slight clackety-sound under load around 3-4k rpms. Drives me nuts, and I think the hood insulation (which I don't have) would help.

I did run across this video, and haven't seen it posted. I had been thinking about doing something similar.

If it was an issue, the higher trims would not come with it installed.

See that Amazon link I quoted?

Reading may be fundamental, but context is crucial.
