Chicken and dumplings. Or chicken noodle soup. Other kinds of soups. Its not uncommon for lots of people to bring a week's worth of food to a family going through something, and they just can't always eat it all right then, and might not have the space to store it. Individual portions take up less space, can thaw more quickly if frozen, and can be stackable in ways a big pot of soup or few boxes of pizza can't be.

Many people lose much of their appetite in times of high stress, so while heavy and hearty meals may sound awesome, some people may have the hardest time stomaching the best of meals. They may also feel horrible for heating up a meal for a family of 5, only for 1-2 to feel like eating it. Kids are picky, adults can be too; add in stress, and its hard to eat anything you haven't tried before. Simple comfort foods go a long way.

Don't know the circumstances, but thanks for being a good human

    Valid points.
I did consider the lack of appetite which is why I was leaning toward the chicken curry idea.
I went with the baked ziti mostly because I had 90% of the ingredients on hand - so I am going to package it up in several portions; say for 2-3 people. These can go in the freezer if they choose.
I have had dinner/shared food with them before so I know there aren't any picky eaters around there or dietary restrictions, that makes it easier.
Pasta, sauce, sausage, cheese + garlic bread + salad = comfort food :notsure:

Next time it'll be something with chicken that is easier on the stomach.

Simply making a meal and taking it over goes such a long way. Taking the time and thought to consider the little details, like packaging into portions, storage, and their general food preferences - that goes miles and miles beyond what a thankful neighbor could ask for. I'm sure they absolutely appreciated it. :101010:

    old thread, :hungry:

Those Carando mozzarella meatball's are my favorite. I put them in lasagna, homemade pizza, or spaghetti. Classico 4 cheese pasta sauce or Classico traditional pizza sauce pairs well with them.
