You can try something like what I've linked to below. Smoking them out most likely isn't going to work. The dirt is just too porous and their trails are just too long and they can move fast enough to avoid the carbon monoxide. The best way I found to deal with them is traps, which do work if done right, and monitoring the runs and killing them when you see movement.

then set the traps a ways out from the monoxide tide and sit back with some buds and suds waiting for some spring snaps! might make a fun drinking game.

Unfortunately my runs/tunnels are deep. Like 12-24” deep. Rarely I get surface runs. Traps have been the suck for me. I’ve even used the Molecat 22 blank round trap to low results. And now sometacodude shows my some worms that they wont ship here. Probly state prohibited. I’ll get the hang of it. No sign of activity today except a few and I got home and gassed that run. I read a review on this yard butler poker injector rod that pokes down into the tunnels and deposits bait. upload_2024-11-30_21-35-49.jpgThe guy said he douses his with night crawler scent for fish and they eat it. Or so he says but he said he got good results. It supposedly attracts the moles. Anyway the stuff in the worms that was linked above is Bromethalin and I’ll research what contains it. Either way I got my work cut out for me and I’ll keep you posted

Had river rats at an old trailer back in the 90s.... They laughed at poisons, wore glue traps as sandles & were big enough they scared dogs.

We hooked up the old Smoky camaro & piped the exhaust into the hole closest to the house.

Fired her up & then everywhere an exit hole showed we stuffed it with rags. Had to send wife & kids to another place for the night.... Turns out they had tunnels holes everywhere.

Let that car run & listened to those things squeal a couple hours.

Eerytime we would see a rag start to move we run over with a flat shovel & beat it.

Many drinks later the noises had stopped. We gave em an extra hour of exhaust.......

Never saw another rat there again. It's not for the squeamish, but it does work.

i get the poison gummy worms on Amazon. they ship to washington. cut them in half and get double. make sure you wear gloves. the poison peanuts/pellets also work but take longer to get. theyre the ones that are barely legal. both have silenced my excavators. edit- the worms are tom cat brand. forgot you can also buy them at big orange box stores.

We did it for Badgers but instead of shovels we had to use lead. Nothing worse than a pissed off Badger.

They’re like Sneks. If you see one there’s bound to be a lot more. When everything’s in balance the gophers, Sneks & Badgers all take care of themselves but when that balance is gone things get outta hand right quick.

Morning y'all, 23* this morning and you guessed it back to pushing pipe and using that drill thingy they made at work for breaking up the mud. And leaf blowing the stuff out of the pipe. This should be a fun time :annoyed:.

We had a Lawn Boy when I was a kid, it was white. Exhaust came out under the deck and it smoked like a freight train. It was awesome, when it ran :bananadead:

When I was a young teenager I went to a friends house and his dad was sitting on a 5 gallon bucket in the yard with a .22

His outbuilding looked like it was on fire but he didn't care.

Upon further inspection, he had his push mower near by with a piece of 4" dryer pipe over the exhaust and under the building, he was smoking critters out and had put 2 stroke oil in it.

You'd hear a shot about every 5 minutes

    Ok here's a couple pix..

Yellow pic is the tiny area the battery was in. You had to turn it on its side, put it in there then lay it down... Impossible to jump in there too.

2nd pic is new home in the under seat area. That space is 9" high x12wx12d..... Its a storage area that I never used.

Already went back & added a hold down & insulated it.

    Yes it's a CAT battery.
Gonna get a good container for the old location & keep some basic tools, clevis in there.

I'll leave this here for your "consideration": Rodenator.

I about resorted to this on some moles on my property :mad::mad:. Tried the standard and not so standard mechanical traps, gas, Black Cat blanks, etc. Felt like Burt Gummer. Until I found the Gopher Hawk. I just open up one of the mounds and jam it down the hole. Seems to work instead of following the instructions and probing for a tunnel.

Still the little fuzzy mini graboids manage to avoid the trap part of the time. They got smart (ish).
