Obviously I’m looking to move back to the metro… but I’ve considered Payson, Pine, Crown King, Prescott, Cottonwood/Camp Verde, and Havasu city. Even Apache Junction which I recall having a bad reputation.

Anywhere else to consider looking or any advice?

I know I’ve talked to some of the guys in Arizona about this already… just looking for more input.

What does offroad mean to you? Rock Crawling? High speed? You could live up north in Doney Park and be right on the edge of the cinders like @snowsk8air2 and have probably the closest access to fun offroading and camping in all of AZ.

I've always thought that Camp Verde looked like a nice place to live. And, it's at an intersection w/Hwy 260 & I-17 to go south to Phoenix, north to Flagstaff, east to Rim country, and west to Prescott. And any of those could be easy day trips. Just my thought based on what you listed.

BTW... We had been out of AZ for 10+ years and so happy to be back recently doing some 4-wheeling, camping in old familiar places and new ones, too.

Fair warning, living this close to the cinders has had a large financial impact involving the truck lol.
