I'm about to roll over that odometer next year and I'm a little worried too lol.

The dating apps are absolute dumpster fires. Like BAD. Your likes or matches get buried by dudes who pay for premium and swipe everyone and then decide after the fact, on top of 99% of the profiles being the most bland and generic people.
I guess I'm weird in that I don't find airbrushed-face levels of foundation attractive. Take care of your skin, don't bury it. I'd take a girl without perfect skin who moisturizes over someone who shows up looking like they don't have pores.

I get some incoming matches but nothing that's actually led to something resembling a connection. Had a girl randomly drop "oh yeah also I don't live in Phoenix I live in New York and I'm going back next week," had another where we started a pretty normal conversation, she asks me a question and then unmatch/block before I could answer...

 

I don’t know what y’all are complaining about. The bar is so low all you have to do is be able to carry a conversation, not be a straight up fucking weirdo and be nice and compliment these ladies.

That being said I did have one in the last year definitely pull some stalker shit.

 

Lucky for you if she pulls up at your work you probably won’t be there!

 

If you have a job and can support yourself it's pretty easy pickens. Just find someone that has a job and supports herself as well. 40 is the new 30. I luckily don't have to get out there anymore but if you're looking it's harder to find someone right than if you just wait till the spark goes off. If you just want to get laid and have fun.... shit, just drive around the university.

I went to a lot of parties back in the late 90s. Really good times..

 

Seriously, everyone around here is all "dont california my arizona" meanwhile the Mormons are taking over at a rapid pace.

 

There are several groups that meet on a fixed day/time of the week in South Mountain Park ... meetup, FB, runningclubs, biking. Well attended and they have a reason to be there so if you seem to be getting a good conversation going but then they start telling you how big the engagement diamond must be you can simply move on with the biking/running. Seriously, though ... the number of people who attend and the "casual environment" may help avoid the dating apps.

Or go to the more-commonly-used sites like SouthMountain (during the winter the parking lot is full and the 1 mile of parking spaces on the road are almost full) or Piestewa Peak (there are places to park 24 hours a day and short walk to the trail). Many people doing what you enjoys.
