    Hey everyone,

I recently had my wheel bearings replaced and the shop that I had press the bearings bent the backing plate while pressing. Now the drum cover is grinding away at the inner ring of the backing plate that fits in the groove of the cover. Has anyone had this and successfully bent it back before? If so, any tips? Im trying to avoid pulling the axle shafts and having to buy more gear oil, have everything pressed out and repressed again, etc.

I know this is an old thread but from experience always replace the backing plate. I recently had a hard hit on a rock crawling trail and my handbrake stopped working. Tried to tighten the handbrake up but still nothing. On the way to my buddy's garage, I lost all braking power. Turned out that the shoe and the backing plate were bent and with a little more wear they caused the cylinder to fail and leak fluid inside the drum.
So if you like being able to stop when you press the pedal. Fix all of it
