    Hi All,

I had my battery replaced at Autozone under their warranty last month, and cranked every time. Now, it won’t turn over. It has been starting fine all week. Any thoughts. I don’t have any electrical accessories plugged in or have any Ditch lights winch etc.

It cranks (engine turns) but won't start or it won't crank at all?

No cranking nothing lights up. Electric locks don’t work.

Are you sure your cables are clean and hooked up properly?

    Pics of them?

So last month, my battery died and got it replaced under warranty. I put my trickle charger on the battery. No corrosion, cables tight. Once I let it charge up, it cranked up. I let it run, and it cranked up just fine.

So it would seem you likely have one of the following:

    A bad battery

    A parasitic drain

    A charging system issue.

First thing I would do is get a meter and check battery voltage with the engine off and running, should be >12v with the engine off and 13.2-14.8v with it running and all loads switched on.

So, here is the saga of my starting issues. I put the trickle charger on the battery, and after a few minutes the interior light came on and it cranked up. I started it yesterday and no issues. It cranked up this morning and again no issues.

So today, I tried to start my truck and would not crank. Did not charge it and I got home and it started up. What can cause this? My wife’s car cranked up with no issues. If it were the battery, it would not have turned on!

I'd want to know the voltage of he battery when it will NOT start.
I'd also want to know where I do, and do not, have power.

Next time it happens. See if the horn blows.
See if the headlights will come on.

We need to find out where the issue is.....

Have you done the testing from post 6?

You say connections are clean and tight but cables can corrode inside their sheath and cause headaches

The problem seems a bit more complicated after todays post.

He said it would not start this morning.
He left, and did NOT charge the battery.
Came back home and it started.

Something strange is going on here.
More than just a battery issue. And likely not a charging issue either.

I think maybe a cable, terminal, or connection issue.

We need to know where we do and don't have power when the issue occurs.

Going to get it tested now. Here was barely enough to unlock the truck. When I put the trickle charger on the battery, the lights came on.

This all started when the temps hit the mid to low 30’s in Gainesville. This truck and I are from the Ft Lauderdale area.

Autozone checked starter, battery and alternator. All checked out. The Autozone manager and a pep boy mechanic looked at the positive battery connection and was loose. It was retightened and cranks fine. I did get a jump box as I needed one just in case. I’ll keep everyone posted.

Autozone did say if my battery keeps having issues they will swap it out.
