    Hiyas!
I'm DrainBamage and I've got a 2001 Toyota Tacoma! I live in actual Northern California (unlike those nerds in the Bay Area who claim 'norcal' to try and distinguish themselves from the hellhole that is the LA basin,) I work on network gear, I play with guns, I do real dumb stuff with cars, I've got a couple of cats, and I have way WAY too many projects.

It all started back in January of 2020 when a friend reached out and said something to the effect of "Hey you like cars, right? You want a broken Tacoma for cheap?" Knowing absolutely nothing about Tacomas or the situation I immediately said yes. Because I probably have some sort of brain damage. It turns out he had a friend who's truck was in the shop because 'it just died' while his wife was driving it, and the shop said it needed a new engine. Not wanting to pay a shop to fix it, he bought a new 2020 Tacoma and I bought a broken truck.

It was nudging the border of my roadside assistance 200mi tow, but I got AAA to pick it up and dump it in my driveway.

And that's kinda where this all began! I've had the truck for about 4 years now and it's been a lot of fun, but also a lot of work. I'll do a build thread eventually, but I figured I'd burn off some of the forum baby fat and at least post an intro thread.

    Cheers!

    Welcome! :hattip:

Since you've had the truck for 4 years, what did you do about the blown motor? We definitely need that build thread.

Thanks all, I very much appreciate the replies!

    Thank you very much!

I replaced it, of course. ;) Someday I might even toss the old one...

But for now it sits in my garage, mostly out of laziness. I kept it around for spare bits and pieces but really, after 4 years I should probably chuck it. Maybe I'll post something up on the for sale section and see if anyone needs manifolds or an oil pan or whatever. It's probably rebuildable but I don't know how much I want to mess with it long term.

Thanks! I should probably do a build thread... It'll keep me out of trouble, and maybe keep me on track.

Thanks much! Not my first forum, but the first one I've participated in for a long, long time. I actually joined back in 2020, I just never got around to posting anything.

    Thank you!

    Thanks, glad to be here!

Ok, shameless plug... anyone want to help me out with this one? :fingerscrossed:

Indexing front axle ADD actuator ...drive rotor?

~60 thread views and no replies? I'm not sure if I put that in the wrong section or if the title doesn't make sense, I was kinda hoping someone would have replied by now. I'm also surprised I'm the only idiot that's made this mistake!

Bumped your other thread. Hope someone is along to help. Seems like a really interesting but frustrating problem to run into. Good luck with it :fingerscrossed:
