Installing ddx712 with JBL

    Hey guys, been lurking here awhile and have learned a great deal about our beloved tacomas. One subject I have not come across, however, is how to add a dvd reciever to a JBL equipped tacoma. I was going to order a Kenwood DDX712 from crutchfield to get the free dash kit, but the guy told me they have no adapter for the JBL amps. Does anyone have info on a JBL wiring adapter or will the crutchfield wiring adapter work as is?

    so the crutchfield team sent me to scosche to see if there is a harness available for jbl systems and this https://secure.scosche.com/products/productID/1447is what scoshe says you must have to add an aftermarket receiver to a jbl equipped tacoma. Do I really need this $150 harness? Also will it even fit in the dash with all the wires and other crap?:confused:

    I just bought the same unit today from a local shop here. this is what i got with the unit.
    Scosche Ta2053b installation kit
    Scosche Ta07sr JBL interface
    $46 PAC SWI-JACK Steering Wheel Control Module Designed for Clarion, Kenwood, Alpine, JVC and Blaupunkt
    PAC SWI-JACK steering wheel controls interface

    This is all you need to install it. Maybe a few butt connectors and a crimper. But i was told there is no need to cut any stock wires. I will be installing this some time next year.

    Thanks, that is what I am ordering. For anyone with the JBL system if you order your gear from crutchfield online: When you select your vehicle and it asked you what system-select non jbl and you can order any receiver than fits. The receiver will come with a free scosche TA2053B dash kit (black or grey). Then add to your cart item #142TA07SR which is the special harness you need to connect to the jbl system. Crutchfield has a $60 price break on this harness right now. It is regularly $150.00:)

    Cool, how was the install? Did you add the steering wheel control adapter? Got any pics? I am now thinking about going with the pioneer avic f900bt due to price reduction. Reviews since firmware update have been good. Still undecided tho...anyone got an avic 900 with the 2.0 update? Is it faster?

    Ditto, I was trying to figure out the resistor connection for the steering wheel adapter.
