o_OWhat type of roads are you driving on? Even with a built truck I prefer to drive around these type of things.

It sounds like you already knew what you were going to do prior to asking the question but this is a great example of how many different opinions there are on building a truck. You're rarely going to get people to agree and it's simply due to the fact that everyone has different expectations and uses.

Are they worth the cost? IMO, no. Not for your use. Sure, they do a great job at what they are designed to do but for the cost difference of the hydros, mounts, and labor to install the benefits don't outweigh the costs for your application & use.

Of course, people are going to disagree. On a phycological level people who spend a lot of money on a product will look for confirmation bias to justify their purchase. So you'll choose to ignore the additional noise or harshness that hydro bumps have. That's fine, I hope you're happy with your decision and you find the expense worth it. They just aren't for everyone.

Ya know... roads in America. Why slow down like a responsible adult for deep dips, when you can blast past everyone and soak it up in trophy truck mode?

this intersection in la jolla is one example :

this one going into UC campus as well:

this one near mesa college is mega gnar (I recommend at least 62" springs and a bed cage , other wise you're going into someone's living room) :

and the best one for flight is by city college (spotter is highly advised) :

This was like 15 years ago when I was not as responsible and going to school with my scum bum pre-runner ranger. I do not recommend anyone drive irresponsibly. Illegal , and could hurt people. I'm just saying, if the end of the world comes, and you ripping around town in mad max mode, make sure your truck has hydro bumps...and LT, and a cage :)

Some of them are in this vid:

I think you just need to stop driving so responsibly off road and maybe stop treating you vehicle with so much respect.

Although, it is a slippery slope. The first time you ride in a "built" pre-runner /sand rail/ race truck you will spend every dollar you have trying to recreate that high. 10's of thousands of dollars later you will wish you wouldn't have tried it :(
