What Have You Done To Your 2nd Gen Tacoma Today?

A kerosene heater that I got a few years ago is probably the best $50-60 I've ever spent on my 2-car garage (R2D2 looking style, not the salamander rocket engine type); plus it's nice to have around for emergencies as well. Given enough time it can actually get it pretty toasty!

panel and rear seat delete project, but these MTA quick release triple stud terminals came in the mail today.

For ~$12, couldn’t be happier. Went from SDHQ to military to these and I think I’ve found a winner.

Shout out to @4xdog for mentioning these in a previous thread on battery terminals. I hadn’t run across them before.

 

im going to look into them, thank you. i had a dynaglo kerosene in there years ago when 1 bay was open! now fiance has had her crv in there as well, and my harley for sale, and it was loud and smelly and a bit risky id say. my father loves the propane grill tank with burner on top...ours is roofed breezeway with large 2-car, very thankful, fully powered etc. ive sold the kerosene and now when i work out or work on truck in an unhasty fashion i use a electric ceramic pointed towards wherever but open rafters and large area it doesnt stay in.

but i layer up and workout and mancave it nonetheless

ill check the ones you recommended. i really need the harley sold by spring to give me some space back

Looks like I burned about 1/2 gallon or so with it on low from about 5:30ish to 8:30ish, am wrapping up now around 10:00 and it's cool but I'm still fine in a heavier hoodie (I don't have a lot of built in insulation, for whatever that's worth, hah).

Kind of a happy accident, but set here in front of my little compressor, I get a little bit of a furnace effect when it kicks on! "HeatMate HMC-23K" is my particular model, got it at my local farm supply place but I'm sure it's available from a lot of places under a lot of names. Not as solid as the Ker-O-Sun(?) from the '80s I grew up with, but still gets the job done! I personally like the smell, but, probably from growing up curled up next to one because the old man kept the furnace at about 33 degrees or so it seemed like..

 

Sooner or later stuff is going to start going back in! Chased the plug threads and did a pressure check yesterday evening; held 15 psi for an hour or two so I went ahead and started tearing in to it more. Thankfully nothing too scary in there!

Washed off the salt since it's not supposed to rain or snow for a couple of days.

 

We used Ker O Suns for a few winters in NC, they put out a lot of heat. Recently I've been using a small diesel heater in the garage. I have it for for camping but it does a nice job for a room esp when it's been in the 20s overnight. I hate working in the cold garage and often used those electric radiators which suck juice all day and take all day to warm the area up. With this heater I lift the garage door a couple inches and run the exhaust under the door cover the remaining door gap with a couple 2x4s, it's crude solution but I does a great job warming up the garage's concrete slab, a couple hrs on high and I have to turn it to low. It takes about 1/2 gallon of diesel it get the room in the mid 60s, once the slab is warm and it's starting to warm outside I can turn it off the rest of the day.

 

I like that a lot! Long term I've considered a camper setup but this is a great way to make the heater even more justifiable.

Original is getting close to 15 years old...the overflow tank appeared to be losing a very little of fluid, so thought I'd change the rad cap. New cap on, old cap off. Prefer the text on the old cap.

 

Glad I am not the only one who doesn't like the new ones, hah! I spent way too long trying to find one that was original..

Couldn't quite get it budged by hand but the puller screw gave me just enough advantage I think as able to just spin by hand. I scoffed a bit at the price of this thing but when you need it.......

 

Finally got the PCV Valve to come off & swapped it with a new one.

 

I did I don’t like that they don’t lock into place.

 

Getting my fenders color matched this weekend

 

I had bought a pair of circuit breakers off Amazon and one was bad so I relaced it with a Blue sea systems one. And yes- my engine bay is disgusting I know…
