IMG_4814.jpg I’ve read a bunch of posts and done a lot of research, but I’m wondering what y’all think of this potential suspension setup. My 2015 Tacoma TRD sport 4x4 is currently all stock (suspension wise), I bought it with some heavy bumpers, front is 180ish rear is 100ish. I’m thinking front Bilstein 5100 set at 0 with OME 2887, 1/4 inch spacer on driver side, RC UCA’s. Rear Bilstein 5100 with ICON 1.5 AAL with overload spring left in place. It will be mainly used as a DD, occasional Offroad use, and occasional light towing. Any advise is appreciated, this is my first Tacoma

First question is why are you lifting it? Comsmetic Only? Do you have wheels and Tires planned as well? What Size? Whats your budget also? 5100s work, they are close to the "beginner" type if there was a scale from "beginner to advanced" of lift kits. Very nice truck and welcome to Tacomaworld!

Well I’ve already bought the 5100’s and a set of KYB strut mounts. Initially I had plans to just set the fronts on the 1.75 setting and throw a 1 inch block in the back. I did a lot of research and reading and figured that might end up being a rough ride, or have alignment issues. I guess I mostly want a lift for aesthetics, I’ll occasionally take it out on the beach, or up to the mountains, hit some snow, nothing crazy. I don’t want to go crazy, something comfortable as a DD that’s not wearing out a whole bunch of parts. The RC control arms should allow the front end to be aligned and it seems like others have had luck with them at the $250 price. The OME 887s (meant for 3rd gen) are longer and softer than 886s. I figured with the added weight on the front they’d settle at around 2.5 inches and provide a plush ride. As for the ICON AAL it’s kinda just a placeholder until I can get full packs, but should provide 2 inches of lift. The truck currently has 265 70 17, which I’m fine with leaving for now. Eventually I’d like to find a set of newer Tacoma TRD wheels, and throw some 255 75 17 on, the less rubbing, the better.

Looks like you have a solid lift planned! The ad a leaf is a band aid, just as you said, but should be a decent ride with non compressed 5100s! Good plan!

I had 5100 with various OME springs. It rode like shit.

6112 for the front is the minimum.

You have the 5100’s and they are a good shock. Put them in with the lift spring set at 0. Many, many members run them without issue.

@vssman That’s my plan, leaving them set at 0. Any other thing that I’m missing? Do I need a different drop or carrier bearing drop? I’d like to get the least wear and least vibrations possible, or at least mitigate it.

No you don’t need either. You might get a rumble out of the front end that is mitigated with the ECGS bushing in the front diff. If you do get a rumble and it goes away when in 4wd, then the bushing is needed. Good luck with the lift and enjoy.

OME MT64 Kit all around with new upper and lower control arms, bushings, and ball joints. Its a modest lift with offroad and hauling capabilities.
