anyone running a bds 4 inch kit with 17 inch wheels? The kit specifies 18 inch wheels with 4.5 max back spacing. I have a set of 17 inch wheels with 4.5 back spacing and was wondering if I could fit them with a spacer. Thanks for any help

I don't have an answer to your question, but just wanted to share your wheels will work with RCD 4-5 lift. It comes with extended length bilsteins in front instead of spacers like BDS which is also a plus. Not saying it's superior to BDS just letting you know you have another option if you are wanting 4" lift and to run 17s

So custom offsets has a 2016 tacoma model with a 4 in bds lift running 17 x9 rims with -12mm offset. So possible but all depends on what you want the truck to do. The only reason I say this is because in the chasis from 2 gen. To 3rd there is no difference besides the body panels cuz its a 1in lift in the body panels

The tie rod at the steering knuckle is where the wheel clearance concern is with these lifts.

I had asked another user here with 17s on his and got these pics:

Not the best angle, but yeah it further shows that there should be no issue.

FWIW, Rough Country specifies 17" wheels as minimum on their kit, but with 7/8" clearance on a 17, 16s should fit it (just have to be careful where you put any stick-on type balancing weights).

If I had to guess, lift makers go an inch above what will actually fit just to further avoid those one-off customer complaints who will spread it all over the internet: "But you said they will fit! You lied!! Now I'm out all my $$$ and want it back (and then some for my hassle!!)!".
