As you can see, this is my first post. I do NOT own a Tacoma yet, but am a proud member of Tundras.com . The reason I joined, I am looking at a 2013 Tacoma with only 88,000 miles. My understanding is it was owned by someone in the military and they let it sit for weeks at a time. It does have a pretty good maintenance history that I've seen, but one part that stood out.

I was just wondering what things I should look out for on this one? I have ONLY seen pictures since I am about a 2 hour drive away. I am planning on going to take a look in the morning.

Maintenance history "thing" I saw that stood out. These are in order from Carfax (I know not perfect): These are all in order:
Nov 2014 title issued in Southlake, TX
August 2015 (18,188 miles) - oil change in Tustin, CA
October 2015 - passed safety inspection in Southlake, TX
July 2016 (29,102 miles) - Oil change in Tustin, CA
October 2016 - passed safety inspection in Southlake, TX
October 2017 - passed safety inspection in Southlake, TX
October 2018 - passed safety inspection in Southlake, TX
June 2019 (48,037 miles) - oil change in Keller, TX

That is the "weird" stretch. Just wanted to ask if anything looks weird or if I should be concerned. The rest of the history is pretty consistent with nothing major listed.

Anyway, any suggestions or what to look for from you guys would be appreciated!

5,000 miles is pretty standard between oil changes. His looks like he goes over consistently, unless he changed it himself in between those recorded.

I would assume the frame would be ok because of where it's lived, but crawl under it and check it for rust anyways.
Other than that, if it doesn't look beat up, it's probably ok. Look under the hood for obvious leaks. If it's 4WD, look at the front axles where they come out of the diff. Check that the vent tube on the transfer case actuator (on the back of the transmission), is still connected and not dangling in the wind. Those have a tendency to split over time, and fall off. This leads to water intrusion which corrodes the contacts. This is probably the number one cause of 4WD operation issues.
Check the tires for uneven wear/cupping, etc. Give the drive shaft a yank or two to see if u-joints are loose.
Check the overflow tank on the radiator. If the truck is up to operating temperature, it should be near the "Full" mark. If the engine is cold when you first look, it will be near the low mark.
Let us know what you find!

South lake TX is likely where they lived/stationed. I know someone that lived 11 miles from there while stationed out there

Tustin, CA, is outside LA, and a 3000 mile round trip from south lake

They likely changed their own oil, (on base possibly) or went somewhere that didn’t record it, and went to a dealer when they were home visiting family, etc and needed an oil change

Sounds like a well maintained truck, but only an inspection can tell for sure.
