I’ve read it’s good to engage 4x4 every once in a while, so today while raining I took it on a straight road. Locked my hubs and then engaged H4. The green light came on and I started driving but it didn’t “feel” any different. It didn’t make any sort of noise like I would expect it to when it engages (granted this is my first truck, and first 4x4 so I have no idea what I’m talking about). Is there a good easy way to test if it’s actually working or not?

make a semi-sharp turn and see if the truck starts binding.
    You'll know if it's in 4WD.

DO NOT force truck through the turn.
Just turn sharp enough to feel it start to bind. then straighten the wheels back up.

Get on a slippery surface like a wet grass hill. Have it in 2wd and tires spinning. Then shift to 4wd and see if you climb out. (I say that as someone with a grassy hill on my property and this happens to me all the time...)
Or, in 4wd if you turn steering wheel all the way, and drive slowly, you should feel it lurch along.
