Your favorite 10/22 upgrades!

Just like the title says, I’m interested to hear what others see as their favorite upgrades they’ve done to their Ruger 10/22 over the years.

Amazingly, mine is still in stock form (can’t say the same for my taco, lol).

 

It's been years so I don't remember which brand or model it was, but a fairly cheap trigger upgrade was money well spent in my opinion.

EABCO Threaded 10/22 Accuracy Barrels® have threaded 1/2x28 muzzles to fit Muzzle Brakes and Suppressors. Custom thread protectors are included, order muzzle brakes separately. This "Fast Twist Subsonic" barrel features a 1:9 rifling twist to stabilize slower, subsonic .22 ammo such as: Aguila 60gr SSS Super Sniper, CCI Green Tag, Wolf Match Extra, RWS Target, etc. Subsonic ammo shoots quieter because the velocity doesn't break the sound barrier.
The "slow and heavy" bullet approach puts a TON of whack on small game, too. Just ask any old timer about how his old 22 short seemed to kill squirrels better than 22 LR ammo. Subsonics do the same thing only they fit properly in a 22 LR chamber and give much better accuracy because of it. Subsonics are preferred by accuracy lovers because they don't lose any stability as the bullet slows down (High velocity ammo flutters as it passes through the sound barrier).

This barrel can be used as is with the thread protector screwed on the muzzle or, you can remove the thread protector and screw on a muzzle brake for increased muzzle stability, accuracy potential, and faster follow-up shots (order the brake separately). The threaded muzzle is 1/2x28 tpi and the custom thread protector is included. This barrel is 18" long and .920" in diameter.

Wow. Can't say I've ever seen anyone turn a 10/22 into a bullpup. Pretty cool.

 

22LR….everyone needs a few…my 10-22 is a takedown..helluva deal when you consider the case that comes with..anyone can operate and shoot it.. my other favs are Marlin 60 SS and Marlin 39….oh yea. How bout a S&W MP15 22…camo no less

 

How is the trigger pull?

 

Can you believe what some ebay dealers will get (ask) for these. Just several years ago you could find them below $200.

Nice idea though 12.5" barrel with a permanently attached 6" shroud giving a total legal length of 16.5". Keeping it non SBR.

Knowing a 36 ro 40 grain 22lr does best in a 16' to 18' barrel, this is a nice compromise. Subsonic and especially very light bullet do well at this lenth. The biggest issue with sub sonic is key hole-ing with 16:1. Faster twist further stabilize subsonic and/or heavey grain projectiles. The extra heavy grain bullet used with Aguila 60gr SSS Super Sniper are an example.

Too bad this barrel doesnt come with a 1:9 twist rate.

 

It's "OK". The trigger bar adds a lot of mushiness to it. So trigger upgrades are muted.

 

I have one of those, works great with subs, no keyholing, on my 10/22 takedown. Also have the magpul X-22 backpacker and I run it with a Leupold scout scope. And a timney trigger pack. Super crisp, perfect for ringing steel @ 100 while being hearing safe.

 

I had a muzzlelite. Basically a pretend bullpup.

 

I made one of mine small and quiet. It's not a Charger.

 

Simmons scope, sling eyelets outside. Upgraded extractor and modifications to the receiver inside. It's a regularly used varmint rifle and is mostly stock. Shoots great.
