Reading several posts and replies on what anti-freeze to put in the cooling system. Prestone has a product for all vehicles.

Compatible with OAT, POAT, HOAT, AND IAT. Meets ASTM D3306 & D4985.

The question being why not use it?

    Responses appreciated, Woodcutter

You can I guess I have in a pinch. The problem is it messes with the color. Also who knows exactly what's in that. Technically water is compatible will all make and models too. I use the red again zerex.

I'm going through this issue right now and will change my antifreeze at 9 this morning. I was totally confused as to why antifreeze isn't just lime green anymore and have not had to change it in my newer cars over the last probably 15 years but did so in my 65 Galaxie which I owned for 30 years at regular intervals. Anti-freeze is different colors now because it is different blends for European, Asian and American cars that meets certain speciation's by manufacturers I have been told. Even though it was $2 more a gallon I stuck with Asian blends. I knew the color of antifreeze had changed but never knew why. With my Galaxie I always wondered what color I would have if I mixed the lime green stuff with the others. I didn't. I was also told GM banded antifreeze was same as Asian brands, but I stuck with the Asian stuff. I'll be watching to see what else gets said.
