    Bought a set of used FJ steelies off eBay for $64/ea. and then got them blasted/powder coated.

    They turned out pretty sick!

    The SCS Gen 5 that're currently mounted need to go, unfortunately. The offset causes my 35s to rub pretty bad when turning with basically any amount of articulation. It sucks because the wheels look awesome, but I can't keep rubbing paint off the inside of the wheel well with all the salt that gets thrown on roads here during the winter.

    @BudFriendguy,

    Did you ever get your steering wheel buttons figured out? Meso Customs makes a replacement board with them remapped, but it's currently out of stock. I could do the soldering you described in Part 1. At a glance it looks straightforward. I'll probably try it on my own first, but if you already bought a spare control board and want to send it to me, I'd be happy to modify that for you for free. Probably better to practice on a spare than on the one out of my truck.

    You talked about laser etching a new rocker switch, but is there any reason it can't just be rotated 90 degrees?

    I've been told, no, you can't rotate it. Otherwise, if you could, then maestro remapping would have solved for this long ago.

    In fact, @Puppypunter solved with maestro and only swapped the button rather than the board, off the MESO v1 kit.

    I missed the boat myself but waiting, I think we'll see something within the next 2-3 months, just gotta be quick to pull the trigger.

    @M85 @daveeasa is right, the button can't be rotated unfortunately. I may have a spare board though (an OEM one from a steering wheel I bought). I will look and see if I saved it, and if I did, you can have it.

    @M85 @daveeasa

    The remapping project stalled because Meso went and did it better than I ever could. The reason I started it was because audio shops told me the Maestro wouldn't work with an OEM head unit, which is apparently false. So if Maestro can do it for the ~$50 they charge, plus the Meso is available also around $50 (sometimes...) -- I've abandoned this specific project.

    I bought two Meso control sets out of paranoia that one would eventually break or wear out, but haven't installed either yet... :drool:

    ----

    Come to think of it, there is a pile of mods yet to be installed:
    • Meso steering control remap
    • Puddle pods
    • VLEDs footwell lights
    • Meso V5 mirror signals
    • VLEDs ultimate tail light kit (with amber turn signal :kona:)
    • Raptor light replacements (current ones have a water leak and blink/died)
    One of those combinations of mods is why installations stalled about a year ago... I think it was maybe to do with the Meso mirror signals combined with Dave's raptor light DRL harness? There were some kind of special instructions to modify the raptor harness to be compatible with one of the exterior lighting mods and I lost them and never got around to figuring out what was what.

    Toyota Corp could seriously use your instructional manual writing skills. Good job! Thanks.
