I recently tried replacing the coolant in my 2014 V6 Tacoma, and realized the valve for draining coolant from the engine block looked different. The bolt, which serves as a valve, looked more green and maybe smaller than the valve on the other side of the engine block. Against my better judgement, I loosened it a 1/4 turn and realized it would not tighten back. This could have been a disaster if the drain was stuck permanently open, but luckily no coolant came out the drain and my intention is to leave it alone indefinitely. DSC_0859.jpg DSC_0861.jpg

This is part warning to those with corroded engine block drains and part question. Is it viable to replace this valve? I don't intend to try unless it starts to leak. From what I gathered, it's a brass piece that screws into the engine block and seems to operate like a needle valve. What would the part number be for this part?

Yes, you can replace the drain cock. I have done so. Part No 90910-09129
