OP with one more note:
- the 2012 spare seems to be holding pressure
- very small signs of sidewall dry rot, that a Michelin condition rating chart would rate as acceptable
So that is my spare for now.
F Marketplace near me has a set of three mounted tires on decent rims for low money ($120), so I may go with that, anyway.
