Still learning the nuances of the truck.
I decided to try out the Sport Shift Mode. It works as it should, and when I stop, I put the truck in park to shut it off.
The next time I crank it, the shifter goes into "D", but the selector reads "S", and the Drive-Start Control Malfunction displays.
Apparently at that point, the transmission is in "D" - the display next to the odometer reads "D", and the transmission shifts automatically as it should when in "D".
By removing and replacing the negative connection, the error message resets and all is normal - unless I try to use Sport Mode again.
Any suggestions would be appreciated. Module maybe?
